TRV-8 I&C Installation tips to ensure a successful installation.

· Heat Pump systems – Recommended to install above snow level.

· Gas Furnaces – 80%,96%,97% communicating furnaces only.

· Horizontal installations – A/C with gas furnace or HP with air handler only

· Line Sets –  If re-using line set, use sizing chart on page 12 of the installation manual. If not sized properly, recommend replacing existing line set.

· Low voltage wiring – (communication wires) Existing wire is acceptable if the voltage is within MFG specifications of .5 - .9 VDC. If not within MFG specs, it's recommended to replace the existing wiring .  18/2 stranded non-shielded cable is recommended from the outdoor unit to indoor coil/ air handler. 18/4 stranded non-shielded cable is recommended from the indoor coil/air handler to the Goodman GTST controller. Auxiliary contact within thermostat are electronically dry which requires 24VAC for proper operation.

· Extra Transformer – when installing an CAPFEA or CAPFE or CHPE an extra transformer must be installed in either the gas furnace or MBVC blower module.  (view picture on second page for transformer details.)

· System Charge – Total charge (A) = Factory Charge (B) + Additional Charge (C) The charging charts are on page 22-26 in the installation manual.  The use of these charging charts is mandatory to properly charge a Goodman SD system.  There is a charging chart for every possible system size, line set size, and coil style.

· CoolCloud HVAC APP - This system is NOT Comfortbridge controlled. If wired to a Comfortbridge furnace, must check for critical OTA updates through the CoolCloud app prior to commissioning.

· Zoning – EWC UT3000 is the only approved zoning application that will communicate with a Goodman SD system.  Each zone must use either a Goodman GTST controller or a Daikin One controller.  A Maximum of 5 zones is allowed.  2-3 zones require one zone panel. 4 or 5 zones require two zone panels.

Commissioning - Cloud Commissioning (WiFi) - Download the Goodman Installer app. from your respective app. store.

• You do not need to create an account to log in
• User ID and password (case sensitive):
• User = Goodman
• Password = Dealer

• System profiles enable the technician to modify settings from the app. and upload those settings to the thermostat.  A Goodman SD system will NOT operate until all commissioning steps are completed, including putting the system into “system Test”.  Once this is completed the Goodman SD system will allow the user to turn the system on.

• Use the red and black wires provided in the transformer kit.

• Connect one end of the red and black wires to the high voltage side of the transformer. (com and 120VAC)

• Connect the other end of the red and black wires to the power source in the furnace high voltage junction box.

Optional: Communicating furnace PCB’s have line voltage accessory terminals that will allow the transformer to be powered from the furnace board. (if not being used)
