The Facts About R-32

Proven
R-32 has been safely used in over 160 million units both in the US and around the world by more than 40 original equipment manufacturers. In more than 100 countries, R-32 has become the global de facto solution to replace R-410A.

Easy
As a pure, single component refrigerant, R-32 can be added or recharged in the field in both liquid and gas phases, without changes in composition. It is easy to clean and reuse on-site, and also easy to reclaim off-site with a simple cleaning process.

Efficient
In studying and testing inverter-driven compressors for rooftop units and water-cooled chillers, Daikin’s labs have found that full-load and partial-load efficiency rated metrics can be improved by up to 12% using R-32 instead of R-410A.

Available
R-32 is a commodity manufactured by numerous refrigerant producers and distributed globally. There are no active patents on the basic molecule. This makes R-32 a great option over other alternative low-GWP blends that may be proprietary, potentially limiting access and supply, and potentially driving cost up. 

ABCO + Daikin 
ABCO HVACR Supply + Solutions and Daikin Comfort Technologies have teamed up with local contractors to install some of the first Daikin ATMOSPHERA units with R-32 refrigerant in the states of New York, New Jersey and Vermont.

ABCO and Daikin are looking forward to more states passing regulations soon that will allow for more ATMOSPHERA units with R-32 refrigerant in the markets that we serve.
