Daikin Northeast: Turbulent Times Require Bold Action, Innovation, and Reliable Solutions

In the business world of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration contracting in the United States today, it often seems as though there are more questions than answers. And all too often potential answers confusingly lead to even more questions.

Stunning examples of this chaos in the air conditioning and heat pump marketplace involve supply shortages and dramatic price increases for refrigerant R454B. These price increases and delays in availability are caused by tariffs and material shortages.

Right now, the marketplace is challenging for R454B manufacturers and distributors. Honeywell, a major manufacturer of R454B, on April 11 announced “we will implement a price increase of $4/lb. on all new orders of 454B as of April 9, 2025, with a 42% surcharge invoiced on the new price.”

HVAC manufacturers and distributors selling R454B are scrambling for solutions.
